Bamboo Pipeline Ranked the 25th Fastest Growing Environmental
Service Company by Inc. Magazine
Camarillo and Sunol, CA—September 30, 2008—Bamboo
Pipeline was ranked the 25th fastest growing privately-held Environmental
Services (“Green”) Company according to Inc. Magazine as
published this September in the companion survey for the Inc. 500—the
500 fastest growing privately-held companies in the U.S. The companion
results were published on Inc.com, an online business resource
that annually compiles a list of the top 5000 fastest growing companies
in America. It also ranks the fastest growing companies by category.
According to Inc.com, from 2005-2007, Bamboo Pipeline experienced
163.4% growth. Responsible for this growth is the unique method Bamboo
Pipeline uses to sell and distribute horticultural products to contractors
via Internet, fax and phone. Bamboo Pipeline runs a streamlined horticultural
wholesale distribution system allowing them to deliver large amounts
of high-quality plants and trees to contractors within days, if not hours,
of order placements. According to Matt Fay, President of Bamboo
Pipeline, currently the company is also the largest seller of plants
in the U.S. using a web-based ordering system.
Bamboo Pipeline serves the western U.S. from facilities in Camarillo
(for Southern California) and Sunol (for Northern California). They utilize
SAP enterprise technology and proprietary software applications designed
to work with SAP. Matt Fay and Mike Cornell, started the company in 2000
when they noticed there were tremendous challenges getting high quality
plant material delivered directly to job sites. By combining new Internet
technologies with SAP enterprise software and outstanding customer service,
Bamboo Pipeline is able to differentiate themselves from their competitors
and deliver the best available plants, trees and shrubs in the Western
U.S. to landscape professionals.
Bamboo Pipeline’s website allows contractors to research and select
the market's highest quality plants and landscaping materials. The SAP-enabled
system tracks more than 10,000 plants and trees daily; it provides buyers
real-time data that can be sorted by cost, quality and past performance
of vendors, resulting in the most complete resource for “green
goods” in America.
