Buxus are grown for their small, neat, leathery leaves and dense long-lived growth habits. This evergreen shrub is excellent for hedges or topiaries with its small, rounded, bright green leaves that withstand regular close clipping. The leaves of B. microphylla japonica are slightly more glossier and usually more rounded than B. sempervirens.
