Phormiums are evergreen clumping perennials grown for their colorful sword-shaped foliage and their dramatic forms from strikingly upright to gracefully arching or semi-arching. Flowers are showy, orange-red or greenish-yellow and attract hummingbirds, however, not all Phormiums flower regularly. Foliage among varieties can vary in width and length. Colors may be shades of red, green, bronze, or yellow and be multi-colored, variegated, or solid.
