Rugosa roses are valued for their old-fashioned flowers and hardiness. This is a vigorous, dense species rose with very prickly stems and wrinkled, leathery, dark green leaves. Wonderfully fragrant, the cupped, single magenta flowers with showy yellow stamens are produced spring through fall followed by tomato-shaped, red to orange hips.
